Fashion Management Colleges
Although fashion is largely considered a creative and artistic industry, there is definitely a business side to the equation. After a fashion designer creates his or her newest ensemble, there are many different steps involved before it actually reaches retail stores. Distribution, manufacturing, promotion, advertising, budgeting, accounting, bidding, and market research are just a few of the most crucial ingredients involved. Thus, fashion management colleges play an integral role in the larger industry because they teach students how to cultivate ideas and turn them into profitable ventures over time.
What Fashion Management Colleges Can Teach You Merchandising, retail management, fashion coordination, fashion design, graphic design, marketing, advertising, accounting, risk management, distribution, and financial forecasting are just a few of the areas you might cover in a typical two or four year degree program. By the time you graduate, you must be well versed both in the creative side and in the business administration side of fashion design. In many cases, potential employers won't hire you unless you have completed sufficient formal training at the associate or bachelor level.
Career Growth with Fashion Management Colleges Growth in the larger fashion design industry will actually underperform when compared with most other job sectors. This is in large part due to automation, fickle consumer demand, global competition, outsourcing, and major advances in technology (like computer aided design software). As such, competition for top paying jobs will be fierce, and proving to potential employers that you have the requisite education and skills will become even more important. An associate degree in fashion management is sufficient, but a bachelors or masters degree is even more ideal. |
